Hilo, Hawaii
The Big Island (as it name states) is the biggest island in Hawaii, we visited Hilo which is the biggest town in the island. It has a beautiful bay and two volcanoes, Mauna Loa (active) and Mauna Kea (dormant) which are majestic to witness, from the lava flows to the observatory in Mauna Kea to go stargazing at night.
Suisan Retail Market
This is a little market on the side of the bay where you can go buy the catch of the day, and they have a section of fresh fresh fresh poke bowls, the options are so much and so yummy you cannot go wrong with anything here. We ordered Ahi Hawaiian, Spicy Ahi, edamame, and lobster spicy salad all with some simple white rice. The key to amazing poke is the fish, and this was so fresh you have never tasted anything like it.
Cafe Pesto
Downtown there are a lot of cute little stores, the afternoon we took to walk this side of town we grabbed lunch in this Cafe. We ordered the soup of the day (everyday they change) which was a Bell Pepper Bisque and a Penne with the freshest ingredients: tomatoes, arugula, mushrooms, feta and parmesan cheese. It was a perfect light lunch to keep walking and shopping.
